National Hurricane Center: Hurricane Webinar 2018 Archive

This free webinar was offered to grades 4, 5, and 6 on May 9 at 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. CDT). This webinar is part of the 2018 Hurricane Preparedness Week and the NOAA Hurricane Awareness Tour. The webinar was broadcast live from the Baton Rouge stop of the 2018 Hurricane Awareness Tour.

The 2018 Hurricane Webinar for 4th through 6th grade classes are presented by the Hurricanes: Science and Society (HSS) team at the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography (URIO/GSO) in partnership with the NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC) and the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center (AOC). the Webinar is sponsored by the Inner Space Center. The purpose of the Hurricane Webinars is to raise awareness about hurricanes in advance of the 2015 North Atlantic hurricane season.

During this 45-minute webinar, students will hear from NHC scientists as well as NOAA AOC personnel who fly into hurricanes. The webinar will cover hurricane hazards, forecasting, observing hurricanes with airplanes, and hurricane preparedness. Questions from the audience were answered during the webinar. There were too many questions to answer all of them during the webinar.
